Community Mediation
Conflict between neighbours, or between landlords and tenants, is common. Some of the more usual problems are caused by issues involving things like:
- Anti-social behaviour
- Noise
- Pets
- Parking
- Intimidation
- Harassment
- High Hedges
- Boundaries
- Landlord/tenant disputes
- Children
- Bullying
- Verbal Abuse
- Lifestyle differences
- Cultural differences
When working with families and neighbours our mediators usually work in pairs. They will first arrange to visit you at home. This is so you can talk through the issues and let the mediators know how you feel. Everything is kept confidential. The mediators will also meet the other people involved and do the same with them.
The mediators will then discuss with you what to do next. This could be more individual meetings or perhaps a joint meeting. If it is a joint meeting, the mediators are there to make sure everyone behaves fairly and gets a chance to speak without interruption.
Our community arm is a Registered Charity (Number 1158506). In the Harrogate District the Charity undertakes free community and neighbour mediations together with free intra-family mediations and therapy when funds are available to which donations are most welcome.
We will always give referring agencies a clear indication of any costs that are involved, and work with them to see if any public funding is available. We are always happy to accept donations from individuals, communities or businesses. Such donations are re-invested into the non-commercial services we provide.
